And the countdown to Gen Con begins!

About my week…

So, as the title suggests, Gen Con 2016 is officially a go!  This is going to be my first big con, and I am so excited!!   Most of my days are going to filled with writing seminars, which are free and I am really hoping to learn some really good techniques, but I am also talking a knitting color work class and a book binding class, cause I feel like it would be a cool thing to learn!  I will also be cosplaying as a Dalek for at least the first day!

I will also be doing random Facebook Live feeds throughout the four days, so make sure you friend me on Facebook to catch them live.  I will also be live tweeting here as well doing entries about each day right here on this blog!  It will probably involve videos and pictures, so be prepared!

In other news, Gremlin turned two this past Thursday, and I celebrated my author birthday!  Finding Grace turned one, and I was able to donate $6.81 in royalties, plus I added personal money to make it a total of $30, which should be enough to buy a large bag of dog food.  It’s not a lot, but it was amazing for me to be able to use Cooper’s book to help other pit bulls in need.  I will be updating that page after I finish this entry so that it reflects the donation and the plans for the next donation, which will be January 28th.

About my writing…

Well, chapter seven has begun, which makes me kind of sad because I was hoping to be close to finishing the whole book by now.  I guess this shows ya’ll how easy it is for books to take forever to be written!  I mean, I really though 550 words a day was not going to be a big deal, but apparently I was very wrong.  But I am still quite happy with how it’s turning out, and I love the cover, but I’m still in search of the perfect Chastian photo to make it five for that deal.

I am also changing up my newsletter send out dates, so this month’s newsletter will combine July and August and will hopefully come out next Sunday.

SOTD Excerpt…

Watching Katherine and Rose fight was an educational experience. Even though I had watched them train, it was now obvious that they had been holding back. It could have been because of their supernatural abilities, but they seemed to dance rather than fight-leaping, dodging, and spinning, Katherine’s sword reflecting any light it caught.

I contributed as well, using my daggers to cut and stab the few that got past Katherine and Rose. They kept me in the back to try to protect me, but they would also watch when I did battle a foe, as if they were grading me. It was distracting so I started turning my back to them as I made my kills. When I turned around, they had disappeared.

I tried not to be annoyed as I cleaned the blood off my weapons. It might have been because they realized their prattle was distracting, or they thought they were keeping me safe by scouting. I was almost finished when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned, my daggers ready, and found myself face to face with Erent.

Alright, so today is my author birthday, and to celebrate/try to get more reviews, I held a review giveaway.  It didn’t really, but here are the winners!

Canning Adventure #1!

So, Monday I took a ton of tomatoes, some peppers, and some cucumbers and magically turned them into sauce, salsa, and pickles!

It took about five hours, but all of this

magically became this!

and I get to do it all again this Monday!

July Update

So, just a reminder that my giveaway ends this Thursday!  I will be going on Facebook live to announce the winner, as well as to send in my first Finding Grace donation to Villalobos Rescue Center!  We were able to raise over $6 in 6 months, which is kind of disappointing, but it’s a start, right?  I will, of course, be adding my own money to the donation, making a total of $30, enough to buy a bag of dog food.

Also, I will be hosting a 30 minute time slot of the Feral cover reveal at 8 pm est.  I, and other authors, will be having a giveaway!  Join me here on Saturday!

My two weeks…

I know, I suck.  But I did warn ya’ll I’m bad about blogging, or at least I think I did.  Anyway, so my weeks have been pretty boring, except for my emergency room trip Tuesday.  I really hate the ER.  I have been there three times in the last six years, and all three times they have been able to do nothing for me.  This time I went because I was having stomach pain.  Now, as a sufferer of acid reflux, I am familiar with chest pain, because that’s how my gallbladder tells me I pissed it off, and usually laying on my left side helps alleviate that.  This time it was my actual stomach hurting, and there were no other symptoms and no relief.  Of course, everything came back clear, so I was told to see a specialist.  Basically it was just stomach inflammation and went away on it’s own, I just had to be in pain for a few days.

Also, canning season has started!!   I have so many tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, so tomorrow they will become sauce and pickles!  I even have a new immersion blender to play with this year!  This is, I believe, year four since I’ve started canning, and since last year was kind of a bust, I am excited to have such a big crop this year!

About my writing…

So, I am finally almost done with one third of Dragon’s Flame.  It has taken me over two months just to write six chapters.  I am starting to worry about being able to publish in December, because once I’ve finished the book, I still have to edit it, then send it to betas (which I’m trying for the first time), then edit, then send to my editor, then final edits.  And then I’m sure I’ll have the usual war with Smashwords to get my manuscript just right.  I really need to get it out on time because I have people waiting for the next book of my other series, Lost, and I would like that to be done by Spring/Summer.

Plus side-I do have the photos picked out for Dragon’s Flame, so once I get the photos picked for Wolf’s Cry, plus on more, to make five for the Shutterstock five photo bundle, I can start getting the cover put together.

Coming Soon From Desni Dantone!!

Sleepy Sunday

About my week…

Ugh, I am so drowsy!  I feel like I have a hangover, except without the alcohol!  But I refuse to let it stop me from giving you guys an update for the week!

So, I am off to do battle with my college tomorrow…again…It’s a complicated story, but the short version is they’ve messed up my records and I refuse to get another override for prerequisites I already have.  So I will do battle and hopefully get everything finally figured out.

I am so excited to make pickles tomorrow!  A couple years ago I made/canned bread and butter pickles quite successfully.  Now husband has requested bitter/dill pickles, and with five cucumbers fresh from the garden, how can I refuse him?  I will also be grinding my now dried herb cuttings, while cutting fresh ones to dry!  I love this time of year!  And I already have tomatoes in the freezer waiting for the rest to turn red so I can jar up a huge batch of them at once!

Also, I got meet my new nephew this week!  I mean, he’s almost five months old, so he’s technically not “new”, but oh my gosh am I in love!  He’s so cute!  Though not very snugly, cause he wants to be able to see everything.  I am making him the cutest fisherman hat!

Also, I have not had any entries to my giveaway, which is kind of disappointing.  I know a lot of people have read my books because of the Kindle Unlimited graph thingy, so unless they were just skipping to the end, there should be a lot of people able to review at least one of my books.

Reminder:  One review = 1 entry for $5 Amazon gift card.  Three reviews = 1 entry for signed set of book PLUS guaranteed set of signed bookmarks!

About my writing…

So, I have basically given up on finishing the rough draft of this book before school starts, let alone a first draft.  I am not even a third of the way through it, though I am close.  Heck, I’m even starting to worry about finishing it in time for the hoped for release date.

But I am so happy with how the story is turning out.  I think I say this in every entry, but seriously, I love this story.  Things are about to get dramatic, and I am so excited!

Also, I am starting to learn more tricks from YouTube on cover design, so I am super excited to create these covers.  I’m still having trouble with Chastian’s cover though-can’t find the perfect guy on Shutterstock, but it’ll be fine.

SOTD teaser…

Work was not usually a great way to meet guys. Yes, handsome guys used banks, but in this day and age most of them had direct deposit, online banking, and phone apps. So, when a good looking guy did happen to grace us with his presence, it was a big deal.

“You know, I’m not usually into red heads, but you have got to check out the guy who just walked in,” Michelle whispered as I finished assisting my customer in the drive thru. I turned around and found Erent walking up to the counter. Dressed in a polo shirt and khaki slacks, he was actually working the teacher look very well.

“Well, this is a surprise,” I greeted him, curious.

“Well, I was in town and thought I would see if you’ve had lunch yet.”

“You just happened to be in the neighborhood, huh?”

“Yeah, so, I thought I would check on you, see how you doing after…everything.”

“Actually, I was just about to send her,” Michelle said. Of course she’d be eavesdropping.

“Well, then I guess that means you’re buying,” I said, sending Michelle an annoyed look, but it did nothing to dampen her excitement. She had been bugging me about dating for almost as long as we’d known each other, and she seemed convinced that was what this was. It also meant an interrogation when I got back.

“I think your friend’s eyes almost popped out of her head,” Erent chuckled as we walked out.

“We don’t get a lot of good looking guys, especially not nice ones.”

“Good looking, huh?” He cocked an eyebrow.

“Well, you’ve got all of your hair and teeth, so you qualify,” I said carefully, trying to take his ego down a notch.

“Wonderful, I’ll keep that in mind,” he said with a smile. “So, what’s good around here?”

“Hmmm,” I overemphasized, “Since you’re paying, there is this steak place…just kidding, but there is this Tex Mex place I’ve been meaning to try, just down this street.”

“That sounds good to me.”

We went it, each grabbing two burrito meals. We took them to a table in the front corner, and we eat took a few bites before I asked Erent, “So, why are you really here?”

July Giveaway!

So, July 28th is my author birthday!  July 28, 2015, I published my first book, Finding Grace.  It was the moment that one of my childhood dreams finally came true!

So, to celebrate, I have decided to try a giveaway.  I haven’t had much luck with them, but my platform has grown a lot since my last one, so here we go!

There are technically two giveaways, but the rules are basically the same.

Giveaway 1 is a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card.  To earn an entry, all you have to do is leave an honest review for one of my books.  Any of them.  It doesn’t have to be a long review, just a star rating and at least one sentence (not counting the headline).  Then you just message or email the link to me, and make sure you get a reply!

Giveaway 2 is even bigger!  The prize is a signed copy of all three of my current books!  Plus, you get a set of signed bookmarks just for entering!!!  For an entry and an automatic set of bookmarks, you have to have all three books reviewed.  Again, all you need is a star rating and a minimum of one sentence about why you gave it that rating, though I would love more!  Then you have send me all three links along with your address, and that’s it!  Again, make sure you get a reply when you send the links to make sure I have received it.

These will run until July 28th.  The plan is to do my first Facebook live video and announce the winners, but either way the winners will be announced through Facebook,, and the newsletter.  The bookmarks will be sent as addresses are received.

Happy Early 4th of July!

About my two weeks…

Okay, so I know I was a bad girl and forgot/put off blogging last week, but honestly, not much happened.  Grems started intermediate puppy training, and is developing a reputation of being the most food motivated dog they have every met, but she’s also apparently extremely  intelligent, God help us.

My sister arrives in town today!  In about two hours I get to meet my nephew for the first time!  He is about 6 months old, give or take a month, and in my favorite baby phase-old enough to interact, but still can’t crawl, walk, or talk!  I know, I’m horrible, but that is why I make a better aunt than mom.

Oh, and make sure you check out my giveaway post!  Because this month is my author birth month, and the 28th is my first author birthday, I have a big giveaway planned!

About my writing…

So, I should be at the half way mark, or close to it, but I’m not even a third of the way through.  I’m close, but not quite.  Summer of the Dragon has basically been a failure, but I’ve made peace with that.  I’m still fighting to get at least a sentence written a day, even if it’s just on a piece of paper at work.  I have also been plagued with writer’s block, which is frustrating because the scenes I’ve been trying to work on aren’t very intense ones.

I’ve still been exploring cover photos as well.  I’ve got a plan for Heart’s Blood now, but finding the right guy for the cover has been difficult.  I would like to have all the covers at least planned before I create the one for Dragon’s Flame, so that they’ll look like they’re part of a series.
